Callanwolde instructors have trained and performed professionally with their instruments and are well-versed in all aspects of musical education including violin, viola, cello, and bass. Each genre and style of music is offered for instruction so students can customize their own education with instructors in both private and group string lessons.
From performance techniques to professional practices to instrument skills, students can learn their instrument to accommodate all musical goals. The Gardener’s Cottage on Callanwolde’s historic grounds offer a piano in every room so students can be cross trained and accompanied to develop the student’s musical education.
Private string lessons are scheduled on an individual basis. Classes are offered for children as young as two years old. Lessons are held weekly at time increments of 30 minutes, 45 minutes, or 60 minutes. Students must confirm times and dates of courses with Callanwolde before registering and paying for lessons.
Monthly lessons available:
- 30 minutes: $115 members/$125 non-members
- 45 minutes: $180 members/$190 non-members
- 60 minutes: $230 members/$240 non-members

About Callanwolde Fine Arts Center
Callanwolde was built in 1920 by Charles Howard Candler, eldest son of The Coca-Cola Company founder Asa Griggs Candler. The estate is located in the Druid Hills neighborhood of Atlanta and is on the National Register of Historic Places. Today, Callanwolde is owned by Dekalb County and is the home of Callanwolde Fine Arts Center. Callanwolde Fine Arts Center is a cultural community conservatory of the arts on a 12 acre campus. Callanwolde offers classes in the performing arts (music, music recording, dance, dance fitness), visual arts (painting/drawing, pottery, weaving/textiles, jewelry/metalsmithing, photography), writing, yoga, horticulture, culinary arts and more to students of all ages.
