Callanwolde offers a number of opportunities to musicians in addition to instruction in their preferred instrument whether it voice, guitar, piano, brass, strings, or woodwinds. We believe that the art of performance is an aspect of the musical education that requires attention as well as technical skill with the instrument. Our instructors have years of experience with performance and conditioning that allows them to be better overall musicians. From posture to breathing techniques to stage fright, a musical career is only enhanced with the polishing of these skills.
Yoga for Young Musicians
This class focuses on specific yogic breathing exercises and poses that the young musician can benefit from for years to come. Based on current research that yoga for musicians can help relieve stress and performance anxiety, and improve sleep.
Audition Preparation for Young Performers
A workshop class for singers and instrumentalists interested in improving their audition skills, honing their stage presence and managing their stage-fright. Students will present pieces on which they are working and will receive coaching from teachers in an extremely supportive and professional manner. All skill levels are welcome, and while the focus is on classical performance, students may present music from any genre including jazz, pop, and show.
