Callanwolde’s outreach program for military veterans consists of specially designed group classes in fine arts and yoga, along with need-based scholarships for individuals.
We began this program in 2014 by teaching yoga and wellness to U.S. Military Veterans who came to Callanwolde from Metro Atlanta and from nearby military bases to help them with PTSD recovery. Our yoga instructor Kate Holland recognized the need for such instruction, and through her efforts, Callanwolde has served hundreds of Veterans.
Individual Veterans are entitled to a FREE Family Level Membership at Callanwolde, which provides tuition discounts for all Callanwolde classes, plus many other benefits. For Veterans who are unable to afford classes, we offer full-tuition scholarship assistance. For more information, contact our Outreach Director, Christina Bray, at (404) 872-5338 or email@example.com.

“One of the best things I have done with my teaching career is to create Callanwolde’s Scholarship Yoga Classes for Veterans. We wanted to give back to those who had provided such a safe, beautiful and peaceful place for us to experience life; so we decided to raise the money for a scholarship fund for Veterans to be able to take class. I am very grateful to everyone who has helped to get this program started.
The Veterans and I have spent weeks practicing a sacred set of asanas (poses) that I created called the ‘Hero Vinyasa,’ which culminated in a two hour practice in honor of our heroes. This yoga requires the student to examine the high qualities of the heart and what makes someone a hero. The classes really help with some of the Veterans challenges and as more than one of them has told me, it’s just good to feel appreciated.” – Kate Holland, Yoga Instructor
In the spring of 2017, Callanwolde started a visual arts program for veterans in PTSD recovery with an introductory drawing course taught by Outreach Director Christina
Bray. The course covers the basic fundamentals of drawing such as shape, form, line, value, and composition. This and future courses in the program are provided at no charge to participants through Callanwolde’s scholarship fund.
