Callanwolde’s School of Yoga and Fitness offers a foundation track (complete all 3 foundation classes and receive a signed Certificate of Completion!) in the ancient techniques of Hatha and Vinyasa Yoga, as well as specialty yoga classes.
The program provides instruction in the poses and as study continues, pranayama and meditation are added. Practitioners also participate in karma yoga programs to connect to the needs of the community. There is commitment to work to sustain these programs as part of the yoga practice.
Classes are held in the Candler Mansion and are enjoyed by many in the beautiful surroundings of Callanwolde’s 12 acre campus.
Yoga and Fitness Foundation Track
Complete all 3 foundation courses to receive a signed certificate of completion. Students may also take classes ala carte with instructor permission. Callanwolde also offers specialty courses and workshops!
Intro to Yoga I
This one hour course introduces practitioners to the study of yoga to include the asanas (poses), basis breathing techniques and how to experience deep relaxation. Each student will receive personal instruction on alignment and focus. No previous study is required.
Intro to Yoga II
This one hour course is the continued study of the basic poses (asanas) presented in sequences to provide increased flexibility, strength and stamina; along with introductory pranayama (breathing exercise).
Intro to Yoga III
This 90 minute course is for the serious practitioner who utilizes the ongoing study of asanas and pranayama with the addition of mudras (hand gestures) and the yoga of sound or mantras. This level of study will bring deep levels of relaxation and the opportunity to cultivate the practice of meditation.
Veteran’s Scholarship Program
The scholarship program provides classes for veterans, absolutely free of charge, as a way of saying “thank you” for their service. Each participant is asked to fill out an application upon attendance of the first class. These classes are ongoing and follow the Callanwolde class schedule quarterly.
