DESCRIPTION:This summer we will push our creative juices by setting individual weaving goals. The instructor will work individually with each student to help them accomplish their design vision. For those who want a more serendipitous experience\, projects can be selected at random from the weaving hat – how will you be sorted? Weaving consultation will be in-person in the weaving studio. Students who have some prior weaving experiences are welcome in this class. Brand new weavers are encouraged to take the Weaving Introduction Workshop or Beginners Plus! Class. Supplies available include 8/2\, 10/2\, 20/2 and some 8/4 cotton and are included in the registration fee.

Emphasis will be placed on proper use of tools and materials to create beautiful\, well-crafted and comfortable jewelry that will last years of wear. First two classes are demo heavy then students will have time to work on their projects for the remainder of the session. The instructor will give individual and group instruction throughout. Beginners can expect to make one to three projects in a session. All tools and materials are provided except gemstones and silver. Supply sources will be discussed at the first class.\n8 week breakdown: \nWeek 1: Studio tour and safety dance. Demos in piercing\, drilling\, annealing\, soldering\, roller printing. Students get a piece of metal to practice techniques \nWeek 2: Design consulting and selecting materials for session project(s). Refresher demos from week one. More demos in soldering\, riveting\, filing\, sanding\, polishing. \nWeek 3 – 6: Students work on their project. Instructor floats to each student in class to instruct/troubleshoot/demo. Whole class is given opportunity to learn from each other and observe individualized demonstrations. \nWeeks 7 – 8: Students are finishing up their projects and demos are given in related finishing techniques: Reaching a glossy finish vs. matte/sanded finish.
