Students will take part in kiln loading\, firing preparation\, and unloading. For all virtual and onsite Pottery classes\, the tuition includes a $98 pass-through supply fee\, which covers the cost of one bag of stoneware\, raku\, or Lizella earthenware clay (first bags of porcelain are available for an additional $5 cost)\, glazes\, and 2\,000 cubic inches of firing space. The slow flowing movements are designed to stimulate the flow of energy or chi in the body with the ultimate aim of rejuvenation and increased longevity. The slowness also allows the mind to be actively involved so that one’s awareness directs the movements\, integrating one’s body\, mind and spirit. This class will improve flexibility\, balance and overall well being. Beginners will learn the 13 Golden Postures.

SUMMARY:JWY 09 - Intermediate & Advanced Jewelry and Metalsmithing (Fritsch)
DESCRIPTION:This class is designed for students who are independent and self-directed. The students must have previous experience in sawing\, soldering\, fabrication\, and other fundamental technical skills. Continuing intermediate and advanced students that wish to expand their design and fabrication techniques will work on independent projects with instructor input and one-on-one guidance. Demos and design discussions will be ongoing. Classes are held in the Jewelry Studio located in the Gardeners Cottage. Our studio is nicely stocked for the students with tools\, equipment\, copper and brass\, however other metals such as silver and gold must be supplied by the student. Prerequisite:Three (3) Jewelry fabrication classes or by permission of the instructor.

SUMMARY:DAP 09- Indigo Imagery: The Art of Cyanotypes (Dale)
DESCRIPTION:Discover the magic of one of photography’s oldest photographic processes. In this 4-week hands-on course\, students will learn how to create cyanotypes: rich blue photographic prints made using sunlight or UV light. Through demonstrations and guided experimentation\, students will explore object printing\, layering techniques\, and photo negatives to create their own unique prints on paper and found material. Each class begins with a short demonstration followed by studio time to experiment and create. \nStudent Provided Materials \n-Found objects/botanicals from outside \n-Drawing and painting materials (pens\, colored pencils\, paint\, brushes) \n-Experimental materials to print on (natural fabrics\, untreated wood) \nJordana Dale’s work blurs the line between fashion and fine art. She is drawn to the quiet\, in-between moments. Since earning her BFA in 2014\, her work has been exhibited in galleries\, and published in The Photographic Journal\, Sticks and Stones\, Mith Magazine\, and others. Based in Atlanta\, she creates portraits that are intimate\, conceptually driven\, and emotionally resonant.
