Beginners can expect to make one to three projects in a session. All tools and materials are provided except gemstones and silver. Supply sources will be discussed at the first class.\n6week breakdown: \nWeek 1: Studio tour and safety dance. Demos in piercing\, drilling\, annealing\, soldering\, roller printing. Students get a piece of metal to practice techniques \nWeek 2: Design consulting and selecting materials for session project(s). Refresher demos from week one. It is practiced today primarily for its health benefits\, stress relief and relaxation. The slow flowing movements are designed to stimulate the flow of energy or chi in the body with the ultimate aim of rejuvenation and increased longevity. The slowness also allows the mind to be actively involved so that one’s awareness directs the movements\, integrating one’s body\, mind and spirit. This class will improve flexibility\, balance and overall well being. Beginners will learn the 13 Golden Postures.

SUMMARY:TEX 01 - Floor Loom Weaving - Weaver's Choice or Project From the Weaving Hat (Edmisten)
DESCRIPTION:This summer we will push our creative juices by setting individual weaving goals. The instructor will work individually with each student to help them accomplish their design vision. For those who want a more serendipitous experience\, projects can be selected at random from the weaving hat – how will you be sorted? Weaving consultation will be in-person in the weaving studio. Students who have some prior weaving experiences are welcome in this class. Brand new weavers are encouraged to take the Weaving Introduction Workshop or Beginners Plus! Class. Supplies available include 8/2\, 10/2\, 20/2 and some 8/4 cotton and are included in the registration fee.

DESCRIPTION:This class is designed for students who are independent and self-directed. The students must have previous experience in sawing\, soldering\, fabrication\, and other fundamental technical skills. Continuing intermediate and advanced students that wish to expand their design and fabrication techniques will work on independent projects with instructor input and one-on-one guidance. Demos and design discussions will be ongoing. Classes are held in the Jewelry Studio located in the Gardeners Cottage. Our studio is nicely stocked for the students with tools\, equipment\, copper and brass\, however other metals such as silver and gold must be supplied by the student. Prerequisite:Three (3) Jewelry fabrication classes or by permission of the instructor.

In this class we’ll use meditation and breathing techniques (pranayama) to calm the nervous system\, move through postures (asanas) for strength\, flexibility and balance\, cultivate mindfulness and relax into a state of well-being. This class is appropriate for beginners as well as seasoned practitioners. You’ll leave feeling restored and renewed. Please bring a yoga mat. (recommended props: 2 blocks\, a blanket\, a strap and bolster.) Yoga with Susan – Susan Mittleman is an experienced Yoga Teacher and Certified Yoga Therapist who believes yoga can be accessible to everyone. She loves teaching people how to care for themselves\, to feel strong\, supple\, compassionate\, grounded and balanced.
