In this class you will be introduced to My Jhong Law Horn kung fu. A northern style, we focus on stances, kicks, punches, and forms. Also, applications and self-defense. Wear loose fitting, athletic clothes, and soft-soled shoes. You will sweat! Ages 8 and up welcome and no experience necessary.
Students explore wheel throwing while refining forming techniques and altering thrown forms beyond symmetry. The course introduces atmospheric firing, including soda firing, cone 6 and cone 10 reduction, and the use of wood and ash in saggars to create unique kiln effects. Learn how to create functional clay works of art using techniques of coil, slab, carving and manipulating forms. Surface design processes in texture will also be discussed.
