In this introductory class, you’ll learn to use essential metalsmithing tools to create your first jewelry pieces. We’ll cover sawing, filing, soldering, polishing, and cold connections, with a strong focus on proper technique and studio safety. All tools and basic materials are provided, though students may wish to bring their own cabochons or sterling silver.

Handbuilding is the art of making ceramic forms without the use of a potter’s wheel. Students will study the basics of building pots by pinch, coil, and/or slab built techniques, and learn the important safety guidelines and procedures of ceramics studio.

This class is designed for self-directed students with previous experience in basic technical skills. Continuing intermediate and advanced students who wish to expand their design and fabrication techniques will work on independent projects with instructor input and one-on-one guidance.
