Learn Yoga and Thai Chi in the enchanting and beautiful Callanwolde setting. Located in the historic buildings of the Candler Estate.

Director: Steve Cole ( scole@callanwolde.org )

From The Director of Yoga, Kate Holland – I started teaching meditation, an integral part of yoga, at Callanwolde in 1994. Since that time, I have joined many, many students in yoga which means union — connecting to the community through special programs and classes. I invite you to join us at this beautiful facility, an oasis in the middle of the city, where you can immerse yourself in the beauty of the natural world. Find sweet, silent times for meditation and learn the ancient teachings and practices of yoga, so relevant for helping us with challenges in our modern world. And most importantly, take time to honor your Self. Whether you have never tried yoga or are a seasoned practitioner, Please Let Me Welcome You!

Tai Chi Chuan is a Chinese Martial Art that combines self-defense with meditation and breath control. It is practiced today primarily for its health benefits, stress relief and relaxation. The slow flowing movements are designed to stimulate the flow of energy or chi in the body with the ultimate aim of rejuvenation and increased longevity. The slowness also allows the mind to be actively involved so that one’s awareness directs the movements, integrating one’s body, mind and spirit. This class will improve flexibility, balance and overall well being.

Yoga Student

“I have been studying yoga with Kate for over 5 years now.  When I first arrived in the class, I was a stressed out mess.  Her class has given me the mental and physical tools to prepare me for day to day challenges.  I appreciate the smaller class size and the more spiritual approach. I have taken classes elsewhere that are full of people and focused on exercise more than mental well being. Kate teaches a more spiritual form of yoga that resonates with me. I hope it will resonate with you as well.”

“What a service to be able to learn and practice such a relaxing and healthy habit from our homes in the middle of the pandemic. I’ve taken Tai Chi classes in person and virtually and think it’s better from my own home. Hope these continue virtually even after we are back to normal.”
