DAP 09- Indigo Imagery: The Art of Cyanotypes (Dale)

June 10 @ 4:00 pm - 6:30 pm

Discover the magic of one of photography’s oldest photographic processes. In this 4-week hands-on course, students will learn how to create cyanotypes: rich blue photographic prints made using sunlight or UV light. Through demonstrations and guided experimentation, students will explore object printing, layering techniques, and photo negatives to create their own unique prints on paper and found material. Each class begins with a short demonstration followed by studio time to experiment and create.

Student Provided Materials

-Found objects/botanicals from outside

-Drawing and painting materials (pens, colored pencils, paint, brushes)

-Experimental materials to print on (natural fabrics, untreated wood)

Jordana Dale’s work blurs the line between fashion and fine art. She is drawn to the quiet, in-between moments. Since earning her BFA in 2014, her work has been exhibited in galleries, and published in The Photographic Journal, Sticks and Stones, Mith Magazine, and others. Based in Atlanta, she creates portraits that are intimate, conceptually driven, and emotionally resonant.
