Kathryne split most of her childhood between Central Africa and Decatur Georgia. This diverse exposure to materials and artistic expression influenced her forms, textures, and aesthetics.
She received her BFA from Earlham College in Indiana where she studied ceramics with Mike Thiedeman. She continued her pottery education at Penland with Linda Christianson, and at the Callanwolde Fine Arts Center pottery studio in Atlanta with Glenn Dair.
Currently she is a studio potter and teaches handbuilt pottery. Her wonky forms show movement, using shape, sgraffito, carving, drawing, and painting to combine 2D imagery with 3D forms.
