“My favorite part of teaching is my students and the community that exists among them.”

Susan believes that yoga is a life-long practice that can bring balance and healing, strength and flexibility, and a greater sense of well-being, both on and off the mat.  Her classes invite you to take time to slow down, breathe, move, meditate, rest, and reset in Callanwolde’s beautiful surroundings.

She is also a Certified Yoga Therapist and is certified in Thai Yoga Massage.

As a former dancer, I was drawn to the Chinese Martial Arts form of Tai Chi Chuan.  I began taking Tai Chi at Callanwolde in 2000 and became a teacher in 2009.  The many benefits of practicing Tai Chi include reduced stress, better balance, improved flexibility, lower blood pressure, and an overall feeling of well-being.  My favorite part of teaching is my students and the community that exists among them.  Callanwolde is a beautiful facility with so much to offer, even beyond classes.  I find each week that just walking from the parking lot to the building lifts my spirits.  I hope you will join us for a Tai Chi class and find a new practice to help deal with the stresses of life.

Tai Chi Chuan is a Chinese Martial Art that combines self-defense with meditation and breath control. It is practiced today primarily for its health benefits, stress relief, and relaxation. The slow-flowing movements are designed to stimulate the flow of energy or chi in the body with the ultimate aim of rejuvenation and increased longevity. The slowness also allows the mind to be actively involved so that one’s awareness directs the movements, integrating one’s body, mind, and spirit. This class will improve flexibility, balance, and overall well-being.

"Mali and Lucas are amazing tai chi teachers. They lead every class with patience, wisdom and humor, while making sure every skill level is accommodated. I love how they take the time to explain the martial arts purpose behind the moves we learn, but also how the exercises aid our strength, balance and posture. My wife and I look forward to their tutelage every week!"

"Susan is awesome. She teaches a different class each time, accommodating our needs and "reading the room" - also lives what she teaches and encourages us to bring yoga into other areas of our lives. Creates a nice feeling of community in the class too.”
